Yesterday, on the busiest online shopping day of the year, we saw peak volumes of e-commerce transactions
processed via the Sage Pay system over the lunchtime period.
We processed hundreds of thousands of transactions throughout the day, but we saw figures reaching a peak between 12pm and 1pm as shoppers sacrificed their lunch-breaks in the hope of securing a bargain.
The Sage Pay system also saw the average transaction value reach £92, an increase of £3.23 over the previous year.
Simon Black, CEO of Sage Pay commented “Each year we see a surge in online sales around the lunchtime mark, with shoppers taking advantage of their lunchbreaks to indulge in some retail therapy. The kind of figures we’ve seen this year mean great news for retailers, and the e-commerce industry continues to go from strength to strength.’
Did you see a surge in sales yesterday? If so, we’d we’d love to hear about it. Drop us a note below and share your story.
